Welcome to BiT Terms

Bitcoin can be a lot of “hash this”, “node that”. It’s like it has its own language. It’s almost normal to feel lost or even a little stressed trying to keep up. BitTerms is making bitcoin terms be regular words. We take those complicated Bitcoin terms and translate them into everyday conversation. No stress. Just learn at your own pace.

Helping people understand Bitcoin One word at a Time!

BitTerms is not just a list of words; it's a continuous project for sharing knowledge and making Bitcoin accessible to everyone. Here's how we do it.

✏️

Terms Simplification

We turn complex Bitcoin lingo into plain, everyday language. If you can explain it to a friend over coffee, to a 9 year old, or to a grandpa, you’ll find it here.

🎨

Illustrations

We pair clear definitions with simple illustrations to make learning intuitive. Because sometimes, a sketch does what a paragraph can’t; it bridges the gap between confusion and clarity.

🌐

Open Source

Add your own plain-language definitions, suggest edits, share feedback, or upload visuals. Every contribution makes Bitcoin clearer for someone else. Bit by bit, together, we build understanding.

Terms Simplification Guide

1

Write for Everyone

Use everyday, beginner-friendly language. Avoid jargon or overly technical terms unless absolutely necessary, and explain them if used.

2

Keep it Short

Aim for 1–2 clear sentences per simplified definition. Imagine you’re explaining it to a curious 12-year-old.

3

No Dashes or Complex Formatting

Avoid using long dashes or overly structured formats, keep it conversational and human.

4

Stay True to its Meaning

While simplifying, don’t distort the original meaning. Cross-check with the standard definition to ensure accuracy.

Illustration Guide

1

Use the Stickman Style

All illustrations should follow the playful, minimalist stickman style we've adopted, simple shapes, clear actions, and expressive gestures.

2

Match the Definition

Illustrations should visually represent the simplified definition of the term, helping users understand it at a glance.

3

White Background Only

Keep all illustrations on a plain white background to maintain visual consistency across the project.

4

Use Vector Format

Submit your illustrations as scalable vector graphics (SVG or high-res PNG) to ensure they remain sharp and adaptable.
